Job Description:

Summary:

Assist other Network Admins in network upgrades (hubs, switches, and routers). Responsible for technical support, performance monitoring and tuning multi-protocol networks in a LAN/WAN environment. Must possess working knowledge of Windows 10, Windows 7, Windows Server all variations, M/S SQL Server, SMS, DNS, DHCP auto-configuration, TCP/IP, Cisco Switches, Fortinet Fortigate Firewalls, Routers, and Hubs. Experience with Tipping Point, VMWare, and backup operations.

Analyze, design, engineer, and monitor network/internetworking solutions. Assist with the responsibility for the security and reliability of the Network Infrastructure

Work independently with minimal supervision; highly developed communication skills with the ability to handle high pressure situations.

Responsibilities include installation, maintenance and support of components of the data communications network and PC hardware and software, assisting users, identifying and resolving problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Includes as follows - other and/or additional duties may be assigned.

Confers with IT Manager and Network Administrators to determine daily operations activity and all on-going projects

Plan and coordinate hardware, software, and network upgrades

Provide technical consulting and analysis in support of departmental management.

Develop and maintain system connectivity through LAN/WAN administration.

Administer and support Intranet and Internet accesses.

Install and troubleshoot network and user hardware and software.

Become proficient in new computer hardware that will be used by staff.

Assist with evaluation of new PC software and hardware.

Establish and maintain Internet/intranet/extranet infrastructure.

Create and monitor general network security.

Establish and maintain E-mail interoperability between mail systems.

Establish and maintain printing strategies across various platforms.

Enable remote PC based Clients to communicate with the network and legacy systems.

Assist PC based client/server implementation.

Solve network-based client and server problems.

Provide file system management including server level archiving and backup

Provide software management including maintaining and upgrading a variety of commercial and public domain software packages on multiple platforms

Prepare and maintain various reports as required

Provide after-hours support team participation.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The following requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Knowledge of IP addressing and sub netting issues; experience matching addressing schemes to a variety of network environments; exposure to both fixed and variable length subnet masking schemes, awareness of modern techniques including 10.0.0.0 networks and proxy servers

Ability and desire to stay abreast of emerging network technologies

Posses a competitive spirit and "hacker" insight

Working knowledge of all Office System Applications: E-mail, Spread Sheets, Word Processing, Windows Servers all variations

Demonstrate knowledge of networking concepts and management practices

Strong foundation in data communications

Experience with network protocol sniffing and analysis

Familiarity with OSI model, TCP/IP protocols and applications

Experience with introducing new technologies to diverse client populations

Posses an understanding of LAN/WAN, Ethernet internet.

Education and/or Experience:

A four-year degree in Computer Science, MIS or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Four years of technical experience working with personal computers including their function, maintenance and repair in a network environment. At least Two to four years of experience installing and maintaining local area networks is required. MCSE or MCSA certification, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent is preferred.  Must be experienced in administration of Windows Server Environment including file servers, mail servers, ODBC servers (M/S SQL Server).
